With some setbacks along the way, BEM HAJA has arrived at its 5th edition. Financial, organizational, logistical, and various other setbacks have helped us grow, as Fernando Pessoa said, or any other unknown author, “Stumbling blocks, I put them all together and built a castle.”

Thus, little by little, our castle is growing and trying to be more and more comprehensive. In this issue, marked by the extension to all the municipalities of the district of Castelo Branco, we have reserved for you a diverse set of subjects from the region of Beira Baixa. We continue to call it Beira Baixa, although statistically today this region is smaller, with only six municipalities, but it will always remain in the heart of the Beirões, the whole territory of this district with its rich history, gastronomy, landscape, culture and well-being.

In the tabs, already customary of your BEM HAJA, we invited four young people with links to the region and authors of a recently awarded travel blog to write about the region. With regards to health, we invited Dr. Luis Taborda Barata to tell us a little about a problem that “haunts” more and more people, allergies. To taste, this time, we reserved something different, wines and the great gamble of Adega 23 in our region. The so-called General Data Protection Regime, also marks its presence in BEM HAJA by the hands of DECO. Finally we tell you about our day spent with D. Duarte Pio and some secrets that he revealed to us. The ambassador of the region chosen for this issue is in fact a beirão in all aspects, born in Castelo Branco, studied in the municipality of Vila Velha de Ródão, lives in Covilhã, where he is responsible for the Cultural Association of Beira Interior and works in Fundão. Luís Cipriano is among the best teachers in the world and explains how this is possible from the interior of the country. Finally, but perhaps most importantly, the excellent commercial offer that is present in this issue stands out, quality products and services that are worth trying. Once again, we hope we have met your expectations and we count on your support in future.

A Great BEM HAJA  “THANK YOU” to everyone.
